First let me state that I am a homeowner, not a construction or plumbing tradesmen. I am... read more not a family member, business associate or friend of Sonar Leak Detection or their technician Jonny. I am a homeowner who was given Jonny's name after trying a national leak detection company. The other company completely failed describing incorrectly a cold water leak in the concrete slab, in a location 10 feet away from where the true location of the leak was later demonstrated. To summarize: Sonar Leak Detection, 5 stars. The other leak detection company, 0 stars.

The short story:
Jonny from Sonar Leak Detection correctly identified the hot water leak and pipe location. Jonny took it upon himself and not at my request to return at no additional cost to me, and identified the leaking pipe location. Jonny took it upon himself to persist and find the leak. I have written this review without his knowledge. I highly recommend him.

The long story:
Through this process, I have learned it is extremely simple to decide between a hot water leak and a cold water leak, by simply turning off the inflow of water to the hot water heater and seeing if the water meter at the street is still spinning. If the water inflow to the hot water heater is off and the leak continues this would mean a cold water leak. If the leak stops it represents a hot water leak. It was clear that our leak was in the hot water line.

I was told about Sonar Leak Detection after trying another company. I had not known of Sonar Leak Detection and have no financial or family relationship to them. The technician Jonny, arrived on time and I was charged a fee that was quoted.

Jonny from Sonar Leak Detection, correctly found the hot water leak under the house concrete slab. He spent considerable time to map out the path of the leaking pipe. This was difficult, as it turns out, due to the thickness of the concrete slab. The 1st day, he left with a general idea of where the leak was, but I could tell he was not pleased with himself. He is friends with a plumber (Miseal at MJ Drain Cleaner) who was hired to fix the leak. Jonny and the plumber, Miseal, continued to talk and think about the situation. Jonny of his own accord called me and volunteered to come back a 2nd time, at no additional cost. The 2nd time he was able to localized the hot water leak which was later fixed by the plumber, Miseal.

Jonny was very thorough, and persistent on locating the leak. Integrity all the way! I would highly recommend for your ext unfortunate leak detection needs.

He used thermal imaging, moisture detection equipment, and other specialized tools to carefully inspect my home. He didn't just assume where the leak was coming from. He double-checked his findings and then, with my neighbor's permission, inspected their unit as well. He was able to identify an issue with their shower and used a dye test to confirm that the water was making its way into my unit.
Isaiah took the time to explain everything he was finding and provided documentation and pictures of his findings. His attention to detail and willingness to go the extra mile made a stressful situation much easier to deal with.

Could not be more pleased with my experience with Jonny and Sonar Leak Detection. I'd give more stars if I could. I called them on the weekend not expecting them... read more to be open and they answered the phone and gave me an appointment on Monday. Jonny was ahead of schedule but called to make sure that was ok. He was VERY knowledgeable and worked with me to decipher my town's very sparse and unclear billing system and we even spoke to the water department together to get more information. We quickly determined there was nothing wrong with the house and we moved to the sprinkler system where we counted all the sprinkler heads, checked them all, and then did a whole lot of math. He was never in a hurry and was incredibly thorough and diligent. He answered all of my questions patiently and was very honest and transparent. He got to the bottom of my high bill mystery and left me with some contractor recommendations and suggestions for a path forward. I sincerely hope that I do not require another leak detectorist service but if I do I will absolutely give Sonar a call and would recommend them to others. I should also note that their services were more affordable than other agencies I contacted trying to get an appointment. Isaiah came out twice, including coming back late in the evening, just to make sure we could get to the bottom of the issue. He was extremely patient, thorough, and clearly very knowledgeable about the process. Then Jonial came out and went underneath the foundation, inspecting everything in detail and really going above and beyond to pinpoint the exact location of the leak.

What impressed me most is the precision of their work. Many plumbers simply do not have the specialized equipment or expertise for leak detection at this level. Too often the approach is to start cutting into floors, walls, or foundations just to search for the leak. Sonar Leak Detection uses specialized tools and experience to identify the exact location first, which saves enormous time, money, and unnecessary damage to the house.

Once they located the leak, they were also able to connect me with a trusted plumbing team they work with who handled the repair at a fair price. That made the entire process much easier, especially if you don't already have a plumber you trust.

Overall, they were professional, responsive, knowledgeable, and very honest. If you suspect a leak—especially one under a slab or foundation—call Sonar Leak Detection before letting anyone start tearing into your house. It will likely save you a lot of stress and money.
